It appears that Google has added voice search to their homepage today.
This feature has been on Android and iPhones for quite a while now, providing nearly hands free searching to it’s users.

Sprint HTC EVO 4G Battery Life

Problem:
Since Sprint released an update for my HTC EVO 4g (3.70.651.1) my battery life has decreased significantly. The phone wouldn’t last much longer than 5 hours.
The battery life drained much faster in areas where I had poor service. This is normal in most cases but after the update the battery drain was much worse.
Solution:
It appears that the in the update Sprint released for the HTC EVO 4g (3.70.651.1) increased some of the polling for the 3G data connection. So if I turn the wifi on and have it connect to access points instead of having it search for 3G then my battery lasts all day long and then some.
UPDATE: Podcasts fixed!

Ubuntu 8.10 upgrade to 9.04 (Grub and ATI Issues)

Well I took the plunge this weekend and upgraded my ubuntu 8.10 laptop and ubuntu 8.04 desktop to ubuntu 9.04 and I ran into two big problems. First, my grub menu.lst wasn’t updated correctly and second my ATI video drivers weren’t working after the upgrade. I’ll paint a little picture of my situation just so that things all make sense. I’ve did not upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10 on my desktop due to VPN PPTP issues that 8.10 was having and I really needed the VPN capability but that’s all that was stopping me at the time. I did not need the VPN functionality on my laptop so I went ahead and upgraded that machine.

I have recently changed the podcast URL to http://feeds2.feedburner.com/PointlessRantsPodcast. The site RSS will still contain the podcasts but if you want only the podcasts then this new feed is the one you want. I’m trying to make this transition as fluid as possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I will post more details on this later as I get time. I would like to write up a post describing the process so others can learn from my mistakes!
